The major issue with any probiotic is the highly acidic nature of the stomach that anything taken by mouth has to survive.

Hydrochloric acid secreted by the lining of the stomach means that the environment is very acidic (pH 2.0 – the same a battery acid) and very few beneficial bacteria can survive this extreme environment.

Thus the type found in ‘yoghurt probiotic’ preparations e.g. Yakult are quickly denatured and few get into the gut to help promote a healthy microbiome.

The spore form of bacteria found in this product protects the active bacteria so it can quickly establish in the large intestine where it is needed, with the added benefit that it has a ready food source packed along with it (the fructo-oligosaccharides)… a bit like sending a work man out with his packed lunch to hand.

A 2021 study concluded that the bacterium found in this product (Bacillus coagulans) was highly effective against treating indigestion with the study finding that;
