The other day I was sent a link to a groundbreaking study by Plant & Food Research.
It has revealed something special about New Zealand’s mānuka honey and the trees it comes from.
Turns out that the mānuka from New Zealand is not only unique in its genetic makeup…
But it also significantly different from varieties found in other regions, such as Australia.
This is crucial when thinking abouut its health benefits.
Because if you want to all those famous antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, you NEED to choose mānuka from New Zealand and Tasmania.
The Unique Mānuka Factor Honey Association (UMFHA) has welcomed these findings, and recommends that health minded consumers choose products that have the UMF certification, which guarantees the honey’s authenticity and potency.
If you want the real deal, then you should check out Wedderspoon’s Monofloral Manuka Honey, which we stock in our shop.
It is sourced from New Zealand’s North and South Islands, then produced using a raw creaming process to maintain its nutrients.
Their honey is then tested in a third-party accredited laboratory to standards set by the New Zealand regulatory authority MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries).
Which is how they’ve earned the New Zealand FernMark seal to say that theirs is a genuine manuka.
So this is as good as it gets!
If you fancy trying some, we have some large 500g pots in stock.
And here’s some good news…
As of today, we are now offering the smaller 250g pots of the amazing Wedderspoon Manuka honey in our shop.
These will be available only while stocks last!
