- This weird census had a surprising result
- When BAD fungi run rampage
- How grapefruit seed extract can help control candida, colds & flu, skin infections, stomach bugs and urinary tract infections – find out more here
In 2013, researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA completed a census.
But not of people…
It was a fungi census!
They were trying to work out just how many types of fungus live on our bodies.
To do it, they took samples from volunteers’ heads, nostrils, feet and groins, and then analysed the DNA of the fungi they found.
Aa a result they found 80 types of fungus that live on the surface of our bodies.
Unpalatable as this idea may be – that your body is like a sort of invisible mushroom farm – it’s a fact of life.
Your insides are teeming with them too, as part of your microbiome.
What was particularly shocking was what the NIH researchers found out about toenails, which are particularly welcoming places for fungi.
Apparently, some forms of fungi can break the toenail and create “portals through which other pathogenic bacteria and fungi can enter the body”.
That was something I certainly didn’t know.
But this is the thing about fungi…
It’s natural for human beings to harbour them on our bodies without any negative effects.
However, the problem comes when they run rampage…
This is the certainly the case with candida, a type of fungus that can be found on your skin and also in your intestines.
Candida is not necessarily a problem…
Until it gets out of control.
Then it can cause oral thrush, digestive problems like constipation, nausea, bloating, diarrhoea and cramps plus urinary tract infections.
People most are risk are those who:
- are on antibiotics
- drink lots of alcohol
- eat too much sugar
- consume too many refined carbohydrates
- have compromised or weak immune systems
- suffer from diabetes
- are experiencing high stress
One natural way to combat candida is through grapefruit seed extract, as you’ll discover in our online report here: How Grapefruit Seed Combats Candida.
A few drops a day to fight off infection
As the report explains, grapefruits are naturally rich in antioxidants, which include hesperidin, a natural immune system stimulator.
They’re also packed with vitamin C, sterols, tocopherols, citric acid, limonoids and trace minerals. Combined, these can help protect your gut health, fight infections, and protect against oxidative stress.
Research has shown that grapefruit seed extract can be particularly effective against candida.
But it can also ward off a whole plethora of skin and stomach infections.
All you need to do is add a few drops to water, 30 minutes before a meal, and it will help protect your digestive system and combat the infection.
It also works well for:
- Colds and flu
- Sore throat
- Acne, black heads and skin blemishes caused by bacteria
- Athletes foot
- Cold sores
- Cuts and wounds
- Dandruff
- Ear infections
- Eczema
- Fungal nail infections
- Verrucas and warts
- Vaginal infections
For the skin conditions, it’s a case of diluting it slightly less and applying it to problem areas.
And it’s not only for your body either…
A surprising household cleaner
As you know, I love the idea of using natural ingredients for cleaning, freshening and disinfecting around the home.
In The Lemon Book, I had a load of tips for using lemon diluted in water to clean the house, but of course vinegar and bicarbonate of soda are also well-known options.
However, you might not know that a grapefruit seed extract like Citridical can also work really well, diluted and put into spray bottles or a jar.
For instance, you can use it to disinfect surfaces and chopping boards, wash up dishes, and soak toothbrushes in it to kill bacteria.
You can even take it on trips if you decide to go off camping or hiking and use it to kill off potential pathogens in fresh water.
So it could have all kinds of uses for you really, aside from keeping your guts protected from fungal and bacteria outbreaks.
If you would like to try it, there’s a 30-day period in which you can see how it works, with a full refund if you decide to send it back.
